近年世界的な盛り上がりを見せるドラムンベース・シーンへの強い手応えを背景に制作された作品であり、DJプレイの現場で機能してきたアイデアを起点に、それらを改めてスタジオでブラッシュアップすることで完成した全3曲を収録している。
フロアユースを前提としながらも、各楽曲に明確なコンセプトとストーリーを持たせた構成となっている。
EPの起点となったのは、「DJYOUTH（ディージェーユース）」との共作によるリードトラック「Feelin’ Down（フィーリン ダウン）」。DJYOUTHはロンドンと東京を拠点に活動するドラムンベースDJ／プロデューサーで、＜Viper Recordings＞や＜Bassrush＞、＜Jadu Dala＞などからのリリースや、CRUCASTのリミックスコンペ優勝を経て注目を集める新鋭。PendulumやDelta Heavyらトップアーティストからのサポートも受けており、2024年以降はドラムンベースへと本格的にフォーカスし、シーン内で急速に存在感を高めている。
本楽曲は、制作前の段階で両者のコラボレーションを前提にスタートしたもので、DJYOUTHから提示されたトランス的なシンセモチーフをMasayoshi Iimoriが再構築することで完成に至った。浮遊感のあるシンセと、ジャンプアップ・ドラムンベース特有の跳ねるリズムが融合し、エモーショナルな高揚感とクラブでの即効性を併せ持つ一曲に仕上がっている。ブレイクからドロップへの展開は特にドラマ性が強く、ピークタイムにおいて強い推進力を発揮するトラックだ。

Masayoshi Iimori, a music producer born in 1996, has released his latest EP “Feelin’ Down EP” on April 10, 2026 via TREKKIE TRAX, a Tokyo-based label he is part of, known for continuously pushing club music that crosses genres and borders.
Masayoshi Iimori has gained support both in Japan and internationally for his genre-defying sound, with releases on labels such as Monstercat, Good Enuff (Mad Decent), and Fool’s Gold. His work has been supported by top artists including Skrillex and Diplo, establishing his presence on the global stage.
This EP was created in response to the recent global resurgence of drum & bass, built upon ideas that have been tested in his DJ sets and further refined in the studio. The project consists of three tracks, each with a clear concept and narrative, while maintaining strong functionality for the dancefloor.
The EP is anchored by its lead track “Feelin’ Down,” a collaboration with DJYOUTH. Based between London and Tokyo, DJYOUTH is an emerging drum & bass DJ/producer who has released on labels such as Viper Recordings, Bassrush, and Jadu Dala, and gained recognition after winning the CRUCAST remix competition. Supported by leading artists including Pendulum and Delta Heavy, he has rapidly risen within the scene since shifting his focus fully to drum & bass in 2024.
The track originated from a trance-inspired synth idea shared by DJYOUTH, which Masayoshi Iimori then reconstructed and developed into the final version. Combining atmospheric synths with the bouncing rhythms characteristic of jump-up drum & bass, the track delivers both emotional uplift and immediate club impact. Its dramatic build-up and drop create a powerful peak-time moment.
“Torn Apart” reinterprets the sonic palette and structure of 2010s progressive house and EDM within a drum & bass framework. Built around shimmering synth layers and expansive chord progressions, it blends high-energy DnB with festival-scale sensibilities. The latter half introduces a bold switch to a four-on-the-floor rhythm, evoking the feel of sped-up Dutch house and transforming the energy of the dancefloor. It stands out as a seamless crossover track that reflects Iimori’s genre-fluid approach.
“Maelstrom,” in contrast, leans toward a more club-focused direction, drawing from rollers to jump-up drum & bass. With its stripped-back arrangement and tightly controlled low-end groove, the track is designed for functionality within long DJ sets. Its simplicity and precision make it a highly practical DJ tool, while still aligning with contemporary club sound aesthetics.
Together, the three tracks highlight Masayoshi Iimori’s multifaceted approach to drum & bass.
