2024年11月に来日したUK出身のプロデューサーNeana（ニーナ）からAbleton Link機能を用いたセッション手法を直接レクチャーされたことに端を発する。滞在中、Neanaが宿泊していたStupid Kozoの自宅にandrewも招かれ、数度にわたりセッションを実施。その後、二人はNeanaから学んだ手法を活かし、2025年2月に本格的なスタジオセッションを敢行した。

Afrotech、UK Funky、Bmoreを中心とした二人の得意とするリズムに、Ableton Linkによる即興性と自然体のアレンジが加わることで、東京という街の“人々の体温”と“コンクリートの冷たさ”が交錯する独自の世界観が形成されている。

EPは4曲のオリジナルと3曲のリミックスから構成される。1曲目の「Reason」はミニマルなグルーヴにキャッチーなボーカルサンプルが差し込まれた表題曲。2曲目の「Triforce」は、Daichi Yamamotoなどのプロデュースでも知られる旧友DJ DISK（ディージェー ディスク）を迎えたスタジオセッションから生まれた楽曲で、3stepとBroken Beatを基調に、自由度の高いビートの上をパワフルなログドラムが駆け抜ける。3曲目「Bungee Gum」は、EPの要素をハウスのフォーマットへ落とし込んだ、柔らかさと鋭さを併せ持つフロア志向の一曲。4曲目「Radical Highway」は二人による初セッションで誕生した楽曲で、Bmoreに着想を得た軽快なリズムと爽やかなシンセが躍動し、タイトル通り首都高のスピード感と都市の慌ただしさが音像として広がる。

さらに本作には、二人のセッションの起点となったNeana、UK Funkyの重鎮Roska（ロスカ）の別名義Bakongo（バコンゴ）、そして＜TREKKIE TRAX＞のコアアーティストCarpainter（カーペインター）がリミックスを提供。いずれもフロアで即戦力となるDJユースなアプローチで、オリジナルとは異なる角度から楽曲の魅力を引き出している。

都市を歩くときにふと感じる柔らかい湿度、深夜の光と影、そして雑踏の呼吸。そんな曖昧でありながらソリッドでリアルな“都市のムード”をクラブミュージックとして結晶化させたEPが、ここに完成した。

The creation of this EP traces back to November 2024, when UK producer Neana visited Japan and gave the duo a direct lesson on conducting sessions using Ableton Link. During his stay, Neana lodged at Stupid Kozo’s home, where andrew joined for multiple improvised sessions. Building on these experiences, the two held a full-scale studio session in February 2025, applying the methods they learned from Neana.

With Afrotech and UK Funky as the rhythmic foundation, the spontaneity enabled by Ableton Link allowed the duo to craft a sound that captures the intersection of “the warmth of the people living in Tokyo” and “the cool, hard edges of the concrete city,” a distinctive perspective that defines the EP.

The EP consists of four original tracks and three remixes. The opening track “Reason” serves as the title track, built around a minimal groove accented with catchy vocal samples. The second track, “Triforce,” was created during a studio session with their longtime friend DJ DISK, known for his work with artists such as Daichi Yamamoto, and features powerful log drum rhythms floating freely over a 3step and Broken Beat–influenced foundation. The third track, “Bungee Gum,” adapts the EP’s sonic palette into a house framework, combining both smooth and sharp elements to create a floor-focused tune. The fourth track, “Radical Highway,” emerged from the duo’s very first session together, pairing brisk, energetic drum work with bright, agile synths that evoke the pace and motion of Tokyo’s expressways.

The EP is further strengthened by three remixes from key figures: Neana, who served as the catalyst for the duo’s sessions, Bakongo, the alias of UK Funky pioneer Roska, and Carpainter, a core artist of TREKKIE TRAX. Each remix provides a DJ-ready reinterpretation, offering fresh angles on the original tracks.

From the soft humidity of nighttime streets to shifting lights, shadows, and the subtle presence of people moving through the city, this EP distills these impressions into a coherent and deeply tangible musical form.
